We will not make you wade through pages of legalese. Here is the whole of it, in the time it takes to drink half a coffee.
What we hold about you
Only two categories of thing. First, anything you hand us yourself, which in practice means a name and an email if you send a message. Second, the anonymous technical notes every website keeps, like the kind of browser you used and which pages you visited. Neither identifies you personally.
Why we hold it
The anonymous notes help us understand what people find useful and keep the site ticking over. Your email is there for one reason only: so we can write back. We do not profile anyone, and we do not pass details along.
Cookies, plainly
These are the small files that let a site greet you as a returning visitor. Some are for the site working, some relate to advertising. Turn them off in your browser if you prefer. A few things may look slightly odd afterward, nothing important.
Other companies involved
We make use of Google for statistics and for ads. Those services set their own cookies and answer to their own rules, which live on their website rather than ours. Ad preferences can be managed in your own Google account.
Younger readers
This site is written for grown-ups. We do not knowingly collect anything from anyone under thirteen, and would remove it immediately if we learned otherwise.
Asking us to delete something
Simply write and ask. We will tell you what we have and remove it if you want. No forms, no runaround.
